I have a city simplicity card zero APR for 21 months. I wanted to transfer a small personal loan to this card.. do you think this is a good idea? Would it affect my utilization with my credit cards on my credit profile?
Itโs with PenFed and itโs a low interest rate. It was 20,000 that I got and I paid off 90% of it so I have like four 4000 left to pay, but the interest rate was low.
Great. If I were in that situation, I would not do a balance transfer. Reasons: (a) The balance is low and can be paid off quickly (b) The interest rate is low, which won't amount to a significant cost (c) the balance transfer would likely have a fee of 3%-5%.
I'd just make it my focus to pay off the $4,815.77 within the next 1-4 months (the sooner the better), then celebrate ๐
Thank you for your input. I really appreciate it and I will also follow your direction. Itโs always an honor watching you because youโre very direct and you show us what to do on certain situation?
Call Citibank want me to do something with the card. I have $14,800 that they gave me and I never use it. What do you suggest I do with it because I have exceptional credit 4% utilization. Over how much 300,000 in personal credit. So I need to use it for something so what do you think I could do?
Glad to help! Of course Citi wants you to use the $14.8K line - a huge part of their revenue comes from consumers carrying debt on their financial products and paying interest. My vote would be to keep the card open as long as it has no annual fee and do nothing with the credit line (other than an occasional transaction every 6 months or so to keep it active). That way you're the one who wins by: (a) building credit history long term and (b) lowering your overall utilization by having a decent-sized line that's unused.
Thanks so much Reese for your advice as always I appreciate you. Yes they do want you to carry balance and do balance transfer so they can make all the money. Lol๐
What's the interest rate on the personal loan? How long do you estimate paying it off?
The rate is 12.49% and have $4815.77 left.
